Klaverjassen with M-Klaver – Background Information

The Goal of the M-Klaver Card Game

My goal is to create a clear, well-functioning, and free Klaverjassen game that allows everyone to easily play Klaverjassen on the computer. Developing an AI-powered opponent is both a creative and educational challenge for me. By offering the game for free online via M-Klaver, I aim to let as many people as possible enjoy playing Klaverjassen digitally.

A portion of the registration fee proceeds is donated to charitable causes. This way, M-Klaver contributes not only to entertainment but also to social impact.

For many, including myself, Klaverjassen is a social and enjoyable pastime. With M-Klaver, I want to make this experience digitally accessible.

Development of the Klaverjassen Game

The development of M-Klaver began in 1999 during my Electrical Engineering studies. My first version was a simple DOS program written in C++, just for practice. Later, I switched to Windows programming using OWL (Borland), and eventually moved on to Visual Studio.

Since 2001, M-Klaver has been available online. The game is lightweight and even runs on older computers. Check the system requirements to see if your PC is compatible (spoiler: it probably is!).

About the Author of M-Klaver

My name is Martin Beck, born in 1979 and living in Beilen (Drenthe), happily married with two sons. After completing secondary school (Havo), I studied Electrical Engineering at TH-Rijswijk (now The Hague University of Applied Sciences), graduating in 2002. The idea for M-Klaver originated during my studies, inspired by the Klaverjassen games we played during breaks (and occasionally during class 😉).

After graduation, I worked for a year as a programmer, but later transitioned to a role that allowed me to work more closely with people. I worked at Activity Center Gading, where my colleagues and I supported computer activities for individuals with physical disabilities or acquired brain injuries.

In 2010, I started my own IT company, mbWebExperience. With this company, we continue to develop useful applications every day.
